Zooey Deschanel on the Golden Globes E! ManiCam

As expected, Zooey did not let her lacquerista fans down one bit at this year's Golden Globe Awards. I've always loved checking out her creative nail art, she almost always has something fun and funky on display!  The E! ManiCam caught her sporting a Hollywood-worthy film strip mani featuring gorgeous shades of gold, black, and white.

The best part has to be the classic vintage camera painted on her ring finger. Two thumbs up!

What do you think? Would you rock this look if you were headed to the red carpet?

Deborah Lippmann Presents HBO's "Girls" Collection

Lately it seems like anybody and everybody has been creating nail polish collections inspired by today's hit TV shows, and now another one is about to join the mix. Lena Dunham, the creator, director and star of  HBO's series "Girls" has teamed up with Deborah Lippmann to make this collection possible.

Next week, 4 unique shades will become available, each color representing one of the hit characters of the show: Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna, and Jessa. Deborah Lippmann was kind enough to give us a sneak peek of these shades on her website.
Hannah is a described as a "hopeless hunter green" and appears to be pale green shade with little to no shimmer. Marnie, described as a "prim and proper pink" appears to be just that. Light pastel pink perfect for those upcoming Spring days. Shoshanna, described as a"virtuous vivid violet" is another soft pastel in a purple shade and Jessa appears to be the perfect "Bohemian burgundy" to round the collection out.

The collection will become available next week and will retail for $45.00.

Tips & Tricks To Get Those Nails In Tip Top Shape

The bad news? At one time or another, many of us will struggle with short brittle nails that break easily. The good news? We don't have to! There are a few easy and inexpensive things that can be done to help your nails to grow long and strong! I often get asked my tips and tricks for my nails, so I've decided to compile them here for your reading pleasure:

Increase your strength from within:

When it comes to nails, diet it not to be overlooked. Although junk food may be tasty (oh so tasty!), it could be wreaking havoc on your nails! Try to incorporate some of those healthy foods that are rich in vitamins E & C, like milk, eggs, and tomatoes. You can find an excellent listing of these foods in this handy dandy little  chart.

  Supplement with Biotin:

Many people do not know that Biotin supplements are one of the easiest ways to increase your nail growth and strength. Personally, I use Spring Valley Super Potency Biotin in 5000 mcg. These are very affordable and easy to find at Wal-Mart.
By taking one a day, I noticed an increase in my nail growth within weeks, although everyone's results are different. My nails are much stronger, and rarely break when I am keeping up with my Biotin. I high recommend giving it a try!

Limit the Use Of Your Nails As Tools:

Though it may be temping to put those nails to work, I beg of you - please please resist!! I can't even begin to tell you about the amount of gorgeous, beautifully painted nails that perished due to my love of cracking open soda cans. The next time you catch yourself about to slide your nails under that pop can tab, JUST SAY NO! A spoon can open cans perfectly and trust me, your nails will thank you for it!

  Massage Those Nailbeds:

Simply taking a few minutes every day to lightly massage your nail bed is an excellent way to increase nail growth. Be sure to focus on the base of the nail, massaging in small circles with a very light amount of pressure. This will increase the circulation in your fingers and promote the growth of your beautiful fingernails.  It does not take very much time, and will benefit you greatly. Try adding it in to your bedtime routine nightly and see the difference!
As an added bonus, it's quite relaxing!

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

It is so important to moisturize those nails from the inside and out, and no wine doesn't count! In addition to drinking 8-10 glasses of delicious icy cold water daily, it is important to moisturize your cuticles as well. There are quite a few yummy smelling cuticle oils and creams on the market just for this purpose. Fret not though, because if you are on a budget or in a pinch, plain old classic Vaseline works wonders! Simply rub along the cuticle base and  allow time for the skin to absorb. This will keep your skin looking good and feeling good as well!

Well, there you have it folks, those are my tips and tricks to get those nails in tip top shape!
